We have anticipated a few sample questions you may have and provide answers to these
below. If you have any other questions, please feel free to contact the helpline.
Q. Who will fit the new thermostat?
A. EST’s Controls installation Contractor will install the new thermostat at a prearranged
time between May and the middle of September 2009.
Q. What do I do when I’m going on holiday?
A. Ideally it would be useful if you could ask a friend/ family member to submit your
readings on your behalf as this will allow us to collect uninterrupted data from your
property. If this is not possible, then please let us know the dates that you will be on
holiday via the online diary.
Q. The LED on one of my loggers has stopped flashing, what should I do?
A. This indicates that there may be a problem with the logger. Call the helpline or email
us.
Q. What should I do if I change my email address?
A. Edit your details on the online website.
Q. What do I do if I change my phone number?
A. Again, simply edit your details on the online website.
Q. What should I do if I sell the house?
A. Call the helpline and let us know.
Q. How will I know if I am entitled to an award?
A. You will be sent an email. The full list of rewards will appear on the website.
Q. What should I do if the logger falls on the floor?
A. If it is still working (light still flashing), then put it back into its previous location.
Q. What do I do if I haven’t received my £50 payment?
A. Just give us a call and we will look into it.
Q. How will you know if the chrono-proportional thermostat has made a difference?
A. We will have a record of you energy consumption before the installation and after the
installation of the chrono-proportional thermostat. With this information AND with the
temperature readings recorded by the data logger we can calculate how effective the
chronoproportional thermostat has been.
Q. Why do you need to measure the temperature outside?
A. The temperature outside is measured so we can calculate the difference in temperature
between outside and inside. We need this information to work out the effectiveness of the
chrono-proportional thermostat.
Q. Will the chrono-proportional thermostat be removed after the project is complete?
A. Unless you request otherwise, you will be allowed to keep the thermostat and enjoy
the energy efficiency and money saving rewards for as long as you wish
Q. Is there a risk of the thermo-proportional thermostat damaging my central heating
system?
A. The thermo-proportional thermostat has already undergone thorough testing and
there is no risk of damage to your central heating system. The manufacturers accept full
responsibility in the unlikely event of there being a problem.
Q. How to create a diary entry?
A. Click on the box next the “Start Date”, select the date of your choice.
Click on the box next to “End Date” and select the date of your choice.
Type in the text, and click “Submit”.
If the event is over one day only, select the same start and end date (e.g. 12th February
2009).
